In my humble opinion...

1. Orange and Green should never be seen unless there is something in between.

2.People who dress in purple and black are usually displaying a lot of fear.

3. JFK was the first president who did not wear a hat at his inauguration thereby killing off hats
    overnight.

4. A hat makes a short person look shorter and a tall person look taller...go figure.

5. A plus tard is a Parisian put down. As in see you later...much later.

6. The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air still holds up.

7. Tag-Heuer is still the watch of choice.

8. If you want the rainbow, first you get the rain.

9. Sugar is the later day equivalent of some biblical evil.

10. Those who want to drag us back to the dark ages ironically need to use the latest technology.

11. Cigarettes are the cheapest non-prescription antidepressant on the market. 300 years from now          we will look back on cigarettes like we now look back on the slaughtering whales for oil.

12. X-Mas Rocks!

                                                                                                                    Stay well

                                                                                                                                                        Be kind to one another

So anyways....

Went to Nelson...Seems alot like Kathmandu, but with better washrooms. Bought some herbal tea, the package said store in a cool place so we are looking for a Frank Lloyd Wright House....

The drive up was beautiful with a photo op at every turn. Delivered a piece to a happy customer and went on our way. Why are there so many Thrift Stores in such a small place...not that I am complaining of course.

In the day between our deliveries we picked some really outstanding items. As mentioned before, we hit the Barell Lamp Shade jackpot with no less than six shades found from different sources. These are rare at the best of times and we cant wait to put some sweet lights together(PS. Teal shade is already spoken for)! Then we went all nautical with a pair of great 1970s Mirrored Ships pictures from a bar in Rossland B.C. and a Lobster Trap.

Speaking of Rossland...Mr. Zangbell & Gill headed over that way on Thursday to do our second delivery of the week. His adventure included Trail and of course he came back with the van stuffed full - mostly with teak(will share those finds another day!). Mrs. Zangbell & Gill visited The Red Barn, a regular stop for us in Grand Forks and picked up a pair of amazing turquoise cast iron stands, which will make great outdoor planters.

As for all the rest we picked this week, you will have to wait for the next blog!! Vintage Enamel Medical Cabinets, Mid Century Teak & Silk Afghan Rugs..Oh my! We will be spend our time deciding on whether to buy those cream and gold 1980s bedside tables. Upcoming blog discussion..What fashion, style and aesthetic really defines the 80s and the Art Deco influence.

Now, as I sit in wonder at this glorious view, I think back to all the places we've been on this trip so far and all the very cool things that we have seen. How can places so small and rural throw up such diverse and amazing stuff...the world is small and the things we aquire along the way get left behind and forgotten. I marvel at the items we pick up - Why would anyone abandon these treasures? The answer is there is too much on offer these days and everthing is expendable and replaceable. Zangbell & Gill is here to refind these tucked away gems and breathe into them a new life.

PARADIGM LOST...Into the Blogosphere

So anyways.........
Welcome to the Paradigm Lost. We're down here in the Kootenays where the air seems fresher and the water clearer.

Last night I dreamt I was an eagle. I think I was Don Henley, seeing as he is the only band member I can remember. I'm travelling with my shaman/bingo partner Jimmy Six-Cadillacs. We are here to unearth booty of all shapes and sizes(although Jimmy could care less as to whether a table is a Nakashima or a Mr. Miyagi). To Jimmy a table is a table is a table and a chair is a chair is a chair and function doesn't follow anything. Jimmy Six-Cadilacs is the most unpretentious person I have ever met - I once asked him whether Dolph Lundgren, Hollywood action man's, full name was Dolphin or Adolph? Jimmy replied he has never heard of Dolph Lundgren as he had never read a single book in his whole life, nor owned a T.V. - But the thing with Jimmy was he could read an aura at 2 kilometers and more importantly than that, he could play twelve bingo cards simultaneously which in my mind made him some kind of numerical genious.

Today we explored the Grand, Grand Forks and scored ourselves a funky old tobacco tin in fire engine red, then we spied a second hand store off the tourist track and found a wicked, new old stock 1950's Barrel Shade(we will be back on Wednesday to pick up the brother & sisters of this shade in other colours!), a vintage desk a la Clockwork Orange and lastly, but definitely not leastly a life sized carved wooden horse head. We've called him The Godfather and he hangs above our bed.

All in all just another day with Zangbell & Gill.....Stay well, stay posted.

P.S Off to Nelson in the morning.
